Overview
When life gets busy, don't wait to fix your problems. Save time and money while locating trusted service providers and contractors that best fit your needs in your local area. Sawyer, referring to the character Tom Sawyer from the famous novel The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, is an innovative utility application that connects users to local freelancers. This assignment was a semester-long project for an upper-level user interface course that resulted in a virtual prototype and website. The website details in greater depth functionality of the project and the teams creative process.
Issue & Goal
Our primary research found a lack of easy-to-use applications in our area for the local service industry. Because of the common issue shared among our team we decided to tackle the challenge of providing customers with an all-in-one application that assists users to hire professional labour.

Mockups
I created black and white wireframe mockups for the necessary components that our application required, this included features such as a login screen, home page, and booking system.

Design Choices & Typography
Explored color and typeface options for Sawyer's identity after initial black and white mockups. The challenge was to carefully choose visuals that would define the project's overall aesthetic. Extensive testing led to the selection of Poppins for its clean geometric style and clarity. Inspired by Spotify's use of green, our team settled on a combination of colors, with emerald green as the primary choice, creating a clean, legible, and visually pleasing interface.

Core Features
The projects core features and interactions were done as a collective among the team with each member contributing their own parts to the prototype. I was responsible for designing several of the buttons and interactions in the home and login screen. Sawyer needed to feel familiar and follow conventional mobile-application style guidelines so it's easy for new users to learn the various interactions. We took inspiration for its modularity from other successful applications such as Airbnb and Uber. More information on all of the features of the application can be found on the website.
