Overview
Engaged in a semester-long upper-level Speculative Design project, our challenge was to create a thought-provoking product addressing a potential future problem. Imagining a scenario where cattle farms struggle due to resource depletion, resulting in scarce beef, our concept, blOOM, seeks to prompt fresh perspectives on beef consumption and its environmental impact. blOOM aims to use material speculation to create an interactive product, encouraging reflection on food choices and their broader societal and environmental implications.

In collaboration with my team member Melissa, we designed a mock website for our product using Figma. Opting for a clean, minimalistic design with muted colors, our focus was on showcasing the product images. The website provides comprehensive details on blOOM, covering its functionality, purpose, the product, and the accompanying user interface.

User Interface
In addition to our physical prototype and website, I took charge of crafting a user interface to accompany the product, using Figma for design and prototyping. Envisioned for display on a wall-installed tablet in users' homes, the interface allows users to monitor resource consumption from blOOM and identify what is needed to maintain the plant's health. I aimed for a cohesive design by aligning the interface with the website's theme, featuring a shared color palette and user-friendly navigation.
Reflection
Focusing on the speculative and statement aspects of the project, I seamlessly integrated research findings with my design skills, affording me the creative freedom to produce a top-tier website mockup and interface for a conceptual company. This combination proved instrumental in achieving a successful and cohesive outcome. Working on blOOM, which demanded various elements, including a physical prototype crafted by my teammates, displayed the importance of each team member's contribution in achieving the high standards we aimed for in our work.
